§ 800. Basis for special uses.

Latest version.
  • Special uses, under the terms of this ordinance, are similar to conditional uses. However, special uses may be larger in scale, and their location may involve broad policy considerations affecting the entire community. Therefore, the governing body, rather than the board of adjustment has been designated as the body which must approve them. A special use is a use which, under the terms of this ordinance, is allowed on the property involved only after a petition for a permit for the use has been approved by the Halifax County board of commissioners after the board of commissioners has received the recommendations of the planning board.
