§ 9-6. TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT SCHEDULE

  • Effective March 1, 1990, the following limits were placed on reimbursement for out-of-county travel on official business:

    The amounts for meals are allowances and do not have to be supported by receipts and other supporting documents.

    The breakfast allowance would not apply if the employee leaves home or job after 7:30 a.m. and the dinner allowance would not apply if the employee returns to home or job before 6:30 p.m.

    Room expenses must be supported by receipts and other supporting documents. Room expenses in excess of the maximum amount listed can be reimbursed only if there are no other satisfactory rooms in the area and must be approved in advance by the county manager. Employees are encouraged to share rooms for cheaper rates where possible.

    Out-of-state travel will be authorized only in usual or extreme cases where it is determined by the county manager to be in the best interest of Halifax County and the employee's position.

    Reimbursement for meals taken within Halifax County will be made only if the meal is a part of and required for a meeting held in Halifax County.
