§ 2-26. Membership; term of office; vacancies; attendance at meetings; removal.

  • (a)

    The planning board shall consist of nine members, all of whom shall reside within the county.

    (b)

    The members of the planning board shall be appointed for staggered terms of three years. Vacancies occurring for reasons other than expiration of terms shall be filled for the period of the unexpired term. Vacancies shall be filled by the board of commissioners. Members shall serve until their successors are appointed and qualify.

    (c)

    Attendance at meetings of the planning board is considered a prerequisite for the maintenance of membership on such board. Failure to attend three consecutive meetings without being excused by the chairman or secretary of the board shall be adequate reason for termination of membership on the planning board by the board of commissioners.

    (d)

    Members of the planning board may, after a public hearing, be removed by the board who appointed them for neglect of duty or malfeasance in office if a written statement of the reasons for such removal is filed with the clerk to the board.
