§ 42-1. Emergency telephone number service fee.

(a)

There is hereby imposed a "911" fee of $1.00 per month upon each exchange access facility, as that term is defined by G.S. 62A-3(1). The fee shall be charged to each telephone subscriber served by the county "911" telephone system.

(b)

Every service provider, as that term is defined in G.S. 62A(8), providing "911" services as a part of the county system shall include the fee in the monthly bill of each telephone subscriber pursuant to the provisions of G.S. 62A-5.

(c)

The county finance officer shall establish an emergency telephone systems fund into which the sums collected pursuant to this section shall be placed. This shall be a restrictive fund used only for the purposes allowed by G.S. 62A-8.

(d)

This section shall become effective and the fee shall be charged beginning September 1, 1995.
