§ 201. General procedure for plat approval.

  • After the effective date of this ordinance, no major final subdivision plat of land within the county's jurisdiction shall be filed or recorded until it has been submitted to and approved by the Halifax County Planning Board or upon appeal to the Halifax County Board of Commissioners, as set forth in sections 305 and 306 of this ordinance and until this approval is entered in writing on the face of the plat by the chairman of the final approval board and attested by the clerk or secretary to the board. No final subdivision plat of a minor subdivision shall be filed or recorded until it has been approved as set forth in section 303 of this ordinance.

    The register of deeds shall not file or record a play of a subdivision of land located within the territorial jurisdiction of the county that has not been approved by the chairman of the county commissioners or planning board, or the subdivision administrator, nor shall the clerk of the superior court order or direct the recording of a plat if the recording would be in conflict with this section.
