§ 58-40. Unmetered (fire hydrant) water purchase.

  • (a)

    No unmetered water shall be released to any person, company or corporation (public or private) without first making application to the county and executing an "Agreement for Use of a Fire Hydrant Belonging to Halifax County".

    (b)

    No unmetered water shall be taken from the county water lines unless supervised by water department personnel.

    (c)

    Estimates of water taken for fire protection and training shall be presented to the county water department office monthly.

    (d)

    In the event water is used for bulk purposes (i.e. filling a swimming pool), and flows through a meter being billed for consumption; the sewer portion of the bill may be adjusted if the water department is first notified to read the meter before and after the event.

    NOTE: This section does not apply to emergency conditions such as fire and the use of the county's fire hydrants for the purpose of fire protection and training except for item (c), the reporting of estimated usage.
