Article II. HUMAN RELATIONS COUNCIL |
§ 38-28. Purpose and objectives.
The general purpose of the human relations council shall be to:
(1)
Promote mutual understanding and respect among all racial and ethnic groups, among persons of all economic and educational status, and generally throughout the entire county so as to prevent misunderstanding.
(2)
Disseminate information which will assist in the elimination of prejudice, intolerance, tensions, and discrimination, and which will promote goodwill among the community as a whole.
(3)
Receive complaints and to investigate and study complaints, problems and specific situations arising between groups or individuals which result or may result in tensions or misunderstandings within the county.
(4)
Provide channels of communication among persons of all races; to encourage the employment of qualified people without regard to race; to encourage youth to become better trained and qualified for useful employment; and to promote equality of opportunity for all citizens.
(5)
Offer its assistance in an attempt at conciliation of any problems that may arise in the county which violate the purposes of this article.
